The Guild’s Summer Project

A couple posts back I referred to a shadowy “summer project” which the Guild is working on, and in fact has been working on since June. Inter nos, and for comedic effect, I tend to refer to it as our Master Plan For Taking Over The World.
In essence, one could think of our Master Plan as a sustained advertising campaign over the course of the month of September. It has the following salient points:

  • We are learning a complete Mass Proper, to be sung at the major C-U parishes on September 2/3.
  • We are also making a recording, including said Proper.
  • We will arrange for space at St. Matthew’s Ministry Fair, and will have copies of the recording to give away.
  • After the Ministry Fair, we will have two presentations/seminars on Gregorian chant, staggered across two weeks.

The goal is twofold:

  1. Give the chant wider exposure in the parishes of C-U.
  2. Recruit new members.

Exact dates for the later stages of our project are not firmly set yet, but when they become available they will be posted in this space.
Pray for us.

Practice Location Changing

It appears I’ve left this blog out in the cold for a while here, and that is scandalous of me.
Because of scheduling constraints over at St. Matthew’s, I have decided to move the Guild’s practice venue from St. Matthew’s to Holy Cross. This is effective as of our next practice, Monday, August 7. The time has not changed, and we will continue to practice from 7:00-8:30 PM.
Holy Cross is at 405 W. Clark St. in Champaign; Google provides a map showing its location.
